Services

The District provides a number of services within the two counties.  These services are provided through the cooperative efforts of the cities and counties within the District to benefit all citizens.

Waste Hauler Referral

Bulky Waste Collections
The District provides collection of bulky wastes to all citizens.  Hard to dispose of items such as appliances and furniture will be picked up and recycled or disposed of properly.   Click on the link for additional information.
Household Hazardous Waste Program
The District operates a household hazardous waste (HHW) management program that focuses on receiving materials from citizens at no charge and making them available to persons who can use them.  Any materials remaining are recycled or disposed of safely.
Electronics Recycling Program
The District operates an electronics recycling program.  Computers, monitors, printers, TVs, VCRs and cell phones can be brought to any of the HHW centers for recycling.  A small charge  is required to pay for the cost of this service.
Waste Tire Management Program
The District operates a waste tire management program on behalf of the State of Arkansas in Northwest Arkansas.  This program collects waste tires from tire dealers and recycles them.   In addition, residents are allowed to dispose of up to four passenger tires at no charge.
Cartridge Recycling Program
The District will provide postage paid bags/boxes to a businesses that will allow them to recycle their ink, laser, or toner cartridges for free.  Individuals can bring cartridges to a local HHW collection facility for recycling or pick up a postage paid envelope there.
Weekend Recycling Drives
The District conducts a weekend recycling drive the first Saturday of each month in Winslow.  We are currently looking at additional areas to expand.
Education
Education is one of the major tasks of the District.  We provide support funding for two local educators, one in each county, who are available to work with any local school or community group.  We also have a Public Education Coordinator in our main office who is available to work with any group in the two counties.  The District maintains an extensive library of solid waste, recycling, composting and disposal materials that are available for review or may be checked out.
Technical Assistance
The District provides technical assistance to any local government, business, industry, school or individual on any aspect of solid waste management from waste reduction through assessment of existing programs to disposal options.
Speakers
District employees are always willing to speak to any group, large or small, including chambers of commerce, businesses, community groups, schools or churches.
Wood Waste Management Program
The District owns a compost screen that is used to improve the quality of compost and is available for use by local governments.
