[New!]New Hours
The Boston Mountain Solid Waste District will begin its new hours of operation schedule on November 6, 2006.  The new hours of will be Monday- Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Saturday operation hours will stay the same of 8:00 a.m. to noon.
 
 
New Facilities Open
The Boston Mountain Solid Waste District in Prairie Grove started off the new year with two brand new facilities a transfer station and a recycling center.  These facilities, known as the West Washington County Transfer Station and Recycling Center, opened January 3, 2006 .   The facilities accept a variety of materials such as household trash, construction debris, and recyclables including cardboard, paper board, mixed paper, newspaper, magazines, steel/tin cans, aluminum cans, and all colors of glass.  Source separated recyclable are accepted at no charge while small quantities of household trash are charged at $1.00 a bag.  Trash and construction debris disposal are charged $42.50 a ton, while commingled recyclable are $15.00 a ton.  Operational hours will be Monday Friday 7:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. , and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. Noon .  
 
New Littering Hotline Announced
The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department has announced a new littering hotline.  You can call this number and report anything from someone flicking a cigarette butt out the window to large amounts of trash falling off a truck while you remain anonymous.  Just call and give them a description of the car, the license plate number (important) and where it occurred.  The number to call is (866) 811-1222.
 
New Solid Waste Plan Adopted
The District adopted a new Solid Waste Plan on March 2, 2006.  The solid waste plan will be up-dated yearly by March 1st of each year.  A copy of the plan can be downloaded by clicking here or a print copy is available from the District for $20.00.  Note, this is a large Adobe Acrobat file (approx. 3.8 Mbytes).
